Little Bit...

Walter, and I are very careful to give God all the glory for our book, Miracles in Red, because if not for Him we wouldn't have any miracles at all. He sends the blessings no matter how small. The most precious of all, life, and through His son Jesus Christ, life eternal. It's a privilege to share that even when it's darker than ever before, we are not alone, He is there.
Many years now after the cardinals came to join our back yard family, more birds have come to join in. As we relax after church today, a little wren lands in our Christmas wreath on the front door. We notice him, and peek out at him through the window of the door, he seems pleased and flies off. We recognize him because he flies in the back porch at sundown to rest up into our silk flowers we've placed around the ceiling with staples, and twinkle lights. If we happen to be outside right before sunset, there he is chirping as if to say, "Go inside please, so I can get in before dark". He marches back, and forth right in front of us on the house roof fussing, and fussing at us. Then as we peep through the french doors in the dining room that lead to the back porch, and we see him fluttering on the arms of the wicker chair, then he flies into his chosen flower of the night. Walter decided he needed a name as our other feathered friends have names, and he chose, Little Bit, because he's so tiny. You may wonder how we know it's the same bird? It's because he has the little ritual he does everyday. Soon when it gets cooler in autumn many of his wren friends will be coming to join him, as they do in every winter. We have many more sweet bird stories to share, we hope you enjoy them as we have.

Dear Lord, please bless each one that reads our blogs in a special way that only you can do, we want to thank you for the peace, and serenity you bring to us daily, many times in the precious miracles in your animal creations. Thank you Lord, Amen.

Learning to slow down...

Philippians 1:3-6
I thank my God every time I remember you . . . being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus

When it comes to learning how to slow down, Cathy and Walter Hopper turn to Paul’s letter to the Philippians. The retired couple knows that God will do in their lives whatever is necessary to complete his good work. They don’t have to stress about it. This proved true in 2003 when Cathy suffered a heart attack. After returning home from the hospital, her artist friend Donna suggested that Cathy start painting as a stress buster. “I can’t paint,” Cathy responded, but Donna wouldn’t give up. “Everyone has an artist within,” she said. “All you need is a blank canvas, an imagination, and some paint.” Cathy felt inspired. She asked the Lord to give her something to paint, and suddenly she knew. She painted a sunset for her grandmother who was slipping out of her life. “She loved it,” said Cathy. After that, whenever Cathy felt despair about losing her beloved grandma, she turned to God for scenes to paint. “He showed me the hues in the sky, bluebonnet and iris fields, and trees with long limbs holding beautiful, colored leaves.” The Lord tells us to ask and we will receive. “I believe God wants to give us the desires of our heart,” she added. Cathy advises those who want to slow down and express their creativity to do it. “If you’re inclined to paint, I hope you’ll go for it. Just enjoy the beautiful colors that come to mind as you guide your brush across the blank canvas.” And she finds inspiration in the words of Winston Churchill: “Happy are the painters, for they shall not be lonely. Light and color, peace and hope will keep them company at the end of the day.
” I'm posting this article my dear friend, editor of Miracles in Red, and author Karen OConnor submitted to The Lookout Magazine, Los Angelous for me, thank you Karen. I'm praying this post will lift someone up that may be desperate as I was, when my grandma was so sick, and went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, and encourage you to never give up on your dreams. Be creative, and do what makes you happy God will guide you if you trust Him!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Sophie, and Gabriel...

This is a true story our friend Judy, shared with us when she heard about our residential cardinals, Clarence, and Fannie Bell, we share
about our book; Miracles in Red.
Below are Sophie, and Gabriel. God has many ways of healing, and comforting our hearts when we need it the most.
Thank you for sharing this precious story!

You all know about our cardinal that has been sitting in our kitchen window since before Christmas...we named him Gabriel, he's bright red and beautiful!! I've been thinking that Gabriel sometimes isn't as bright red. I have now realized that we have 2 cardinals!! They never sit there at the same time. Gabriel being bright red, which means he is male, and kind of on the chubby side. The other is more grey with red tipped wings and red around it's beak and eyes, which means it's a female...and much skinnier. We have now named this one Sophie. I posted a picture of Gabriel, the next time Sophie's sitting there I will get a pic and post one of her. I love those birds being there!!! Blesses me every time I look out that window!! Was finally able to get a picture of Sophie last night although it's not the best, she's the cardinal more grey in color with the red beak. And a bonus....Sophie and Gabriel together!! First time I've ever seen them out there together!! And it was on my grandma's birthday, her first birthday in Heaven! The blessings of my 2 cardinals just keeps getting better and better!! For those of you that don't already know, Gabriel came to me between Christmas and Thanksgiving when I was really missing my mama and sat in my kitchen window...the place I think of my mom the most. Continues to come to this day...I consider it a gift from God to comfort me and let me know that my mom and grandma are still and always will be with me in some way!! May God send His comfort, peace and love to all of you!

Sweetmomma, and Sweetdaddy...

We want to thank Phil, and Anita Phillips for allowing Walter, and I to share their precious testimony of how God truly shows His love in mysterious ways.
My Pastor, Danny Pankey knew about my mother’s love for Redbirds so he got me a copy of your book, Miracles in Red that you autographed, shortly after mother died but, I suppose emotionally I was not prepared to read it until this week. It was truly a blessing to me and stirred so many wonderful memories.
My mother passed away last Valentine’s Day and had found comfort in Redbirds because my father who passed away in 1994 loved them. She had several Redbirds that played in her crape myrtle trees in her backyard every morning and always said that was the Lord letting daddy visit her. They had been married for 52 years when he passed and had spent every minute since their retirement in 1984 together. They were the perfect picture of a stable, God fearing, southern family, who knew how show God’s love to each other as well as family and friends. My Mother and Father were affectionately known as “Sweetmomma and Sweetdaddy” by all the grandkids which by default became their names to everyone in the family as well as the church family. I now have a male and female Redbird that visit me 4 or 5 mornings a week in my backyard and I’ll bet you know what their names are. Needless to say, your book really struck a cord with me. Thank you so much, Pastor Danny for the copy, and for your kindness and your faithfulness. Sincerely, Phil Phillips
